2WELCOME TO INTEGRATED SCIENCE CLASS CONTENT FOR FIRST TERM

WEEK 2-3                     TOPIC:HUMAN LIFE PROCESSES(Organs and systems)

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:By the end of the lesson, Learners will be able to:

• Identify and explain the stages of growth and development in human beings.
• Become aware of the changes that occur in the human body during puberty and adolescent.
• Develop an awareness of the importance of food for energy and growth need for a balanced and healthy diet structure and function of teeth.

WEEK 3-4                           TOPIC:THE STATE OF MATTER

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Learners will be able to:

• Describe how matter changes states if heated or cooled
• Outline and discuss the three states of matter
• Sort different materials into their correct states.
• Describe the particles that makes up solid, liquid and gas.

WEEK 5-6                          TOPIC:PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHANGE
IDENTIFY PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHANGES, COMPARE PHYSICAL AND CHEMICAL CHANGES.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES: By the end of the lesson, Learners will be able to:

• Describe the physical and chemical change.
• Outline the differences between physical and chemical change.

WEEK 8:9                         TOPIC: SOIL

LEARNING OBJECTIVES:By the end of the lesson, Learners will be able to:

  • By the end of the lesson learners should be able to;
    • Identify the importance and uses of soil
    • Describe the composition of soil particles; sand, clay, silt and loam
    • Appreciate the importance of the soil.

SECOND TERM BEGINS!

WEEK 1: REVISION

WEEK 2 -FORCE

Learners should be able to:
• Explore how objects moves by pulling or pushing.
• Explore how objects move in water and air.
• Investigate floating and sinking with a wide range of materials and objects.

WEEK 3-4: FORCELIGHT

Learners should be able to:
• Understand that light comes from different sources
• Investigate that light can be broken down into many different colours
• Use prism to create sprectrum
• Investigate the relationship between light and materials – sort materials according to the degree to which they allow light through (i.e. transparent, translucent, opaque) explore materials that do not allow light to pass through (opaque) and thus form shadows design and make a light shade for bedroom

WEEK 5: SOUND

Learners should be able to:
• understand and explore how different sounds may be made by making a variety of materials vibrate
• Explore the fact that sounds travel through materials

WEEK 6: MATERIALS AND CHANGES EXPLORING HEATING AND COOLING

Learners should be able to:
•investigate the suitability of different kinds of clothes for variations in temperature
• explore the effects of heating and cooling on a range of liquids, solids and gase.

WEEK 7: REVISION AND MID TERM ASSESSMENT

WEEK 8-9 ECOSYSTEM

Learners should be able to:
• •Identify and describe ecosystems
• Analyze critically the roles in food chains
• Interpret food webs

• Discuss the Interactions in an ecosystem

WEEK 10-11: REVISION AND PROJECT

THIRD TERM 2020-2021 SECTION

ECOSYSTEM AND HABITAT

Learners should be able to; identify and describe ecosystems , analyse the roles of organisms in food chain, interpret food web and discuss the interactions in an ecosystem.

ADAPTIVE FEATURES OF LIVING THINGS(PLANTS AND ANIMALS)

Learners should be able to ; enumerate and differentiate the adaptive features of living things, They should be able to distinguish between the adaptive features of lower animals in constrast with those of the higher animals.
