1 ESTIMATION (i) Estimate dimensions in lengths, distances, capacities and mass of various objects.
(ii) Identify the difference in the size. 2 APPROXIMATION (i) Approximate answers to addition, subtraction, multiplication and division problems. (ii) Round off numbers to various degrees of accuracy. Apply approximation to everyday life. 3 OPEN SENTENCES (i) Solve problems with open sentences. (ii) Use letters to represent symbols in open sentences. 4 SIMPLIFICATION OF ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION (i) Identify positive and negative coefficients of terms. (ii) Add and subtract like terms. (iii) Collect and simplify like terms. 5 SIMPLIFYING ALGEBRAIC EXPRESSION 2  (i) Insert/remove brackets. Simplify algebraic expressions.  (ii) Write words in symbolic terms. 6 SIMPLE EQUATIONS (i) Solve open sentences involving two operations.  (ii) Translate word sentences into equations.  (iii) Solve simple equations and check the solution of an equation. 7 & 8 BASIC PROPERTIES OF THREE DIMENSIONAL SHAPES (i) Identify the properties.
